Yohei made a visit to NPL, to visit laboratories developing super resolution imaging and light-sheet microscopes. Home of the nation’s atomic time scale, NPL is the focus for time and frequency measurements and research in the UK.
Yohei gave a seminar at Pirbright Institute in Surrey on "Mechanism of influenza virus entry into host cells". The Pirbright Institute is a world leading centre of excellence in research and surveillance of virus diseases of farm animals and viruses that spread from animals to humans. Pirbright Institute lies in Surrey, close to Woking and Guildford.
Yohei visited Olympus in Hachioji, Tokyo for a collaboration using BIXAM. BIXAM is a new imaging system under development that combines inverted optical microscopy/confocal scanning laser microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). It allows for simultaneous observation using optical microscopy fluorescence imaging and AFM video imaging.
On July 14th 2017, Yohei was kindly invited to Yokogawa Electric Corporation (横河電機株式会社) in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. Yokogawa stood in the middle of a forest up in the mountains, a 20 min drive away from Kanazawa city centre. On arrival, first of all, the architecture gave a strong impression - designed by Kazuyo Sejima+Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA) - the same architects who designed the landmark 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, and the Rolex Le
