How does a virus enter a host cell and establish infection? We focus on human viruses like influenza A viruses and are trying to understand the molecular mechanism of their interactions with host proteins, and how they hijack the host for their benefit. Our long-term goal is to develop new anti-viral drugs using the knowledge gained from influenza viral cell biology research.
In order to understand virus infections we employ many techniques including cell biology, biochemistry, light and electron microscopy. We collaborate with scientists who are experts in chemistry, physics, proteomics, microfluidics, and cryo EM, nationally and internationally.
